Wilderness First Aid

If you're planning to travel in the wilderness or any remote location distant from medical care, you need to be prepared with the proper training and equipment to safeguard yourself and others in your group. Wilderness First Aid provides the basic knowledge and skills to enable participants to make decisions about emergency care in wilderness settings, including prevention, protection of the patient and other members of the party, care of injuries for extended periods of time while waiting for rescuers and simple evacuation techniques. Course includes adult/child CPR/AED certification as well as American Red Cross Wilderness First Aid certification.

Wilderness First Aid Basic Student Guide, Mountaineering First Aid Text and When Help is Delayed are included in the cost of this class. One additional resource book, Wilderness First Aid - Emergency Care for Remote Locations, is strongly recommended. You can pick up your book at the Community Education office, WDC Suite 2400. You should read Chapters 1 & 2 of the Mountaineering First Aid text before the first class.
